Beyond Asana
A deeper journey into Kriya Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation and Kundalini
Canary Islands · November 2026 – February 2027
4 days · 12 participants · English
Maybe you've been practising yoga for years and feel there is something more to explore.
Maybe you've spent most of your life in your head and are looking for a way to reconnect with your body, your breath and your inner experience.
Maybe you're simply ready to step away from your usual surroundings for a few days — to leave the European winter behind, spend time in nature and give yourself some space to breathe, practise and see things from a different perspective.
Or perhaps you've never practised yoga before, but you've become curious about meditation, breathwork and the deeper dimensions of the yogic tradition.
Wherever you are coming from, you are welcome here.
For four days, we step out of our usual routines and create space for practice, exploration, connection and a little adventure.
We practise together, share meals, explore the surrounding landscape, have time to ourselves and experience what it is like to dedicate a few days to something that is often difficult to find in everyday life:
time and attention for yourself.
Beyond the Physical Practice
This is not a retreat where you simply move from one yoga class to the next.
We will practise asana, but the physical practice is only the beginning.
We use the body to prepare for what comes after:
Pranayama — working with breath and prana.
Pratyahara — turning the senses inward.
Dharana — developing concentration.
Dhyana — sustained meditative awareness.
Through mantra, mudra, Bhuta Shuddhi and Kriya Yoga practices, we gradually move from the physical toward subtler dimensions of practice.
As this foundation develops, we explore practices traditionally associated with Kundalini and the natural unfoldment of a deeper energetic potential.
Some practices are individual.
Some are shared with a partner.
Some are experienced together as a group (Kaula).
This combination makes the retreat a journey between personal practice and shared experience — between quiet inner work and the energy of practising together.
You don't need to arrive with a particular belief system.
You don't need to be an experienced yogi.
You simply need curiosity and a willingness to explore.
The Practice
Across the retreat, we work with a range of traditional yogic tools and techniques.
Asana
Morning and selected afternoon practices warm and prepare the body, release unnecessary tension and develop the stability and mobility needed for longer periods of absorption.
Pranayama
We explore different pranayama techniques and the relationship between breath, prana, nadis, concentration and our internal state.
The breath becomes a bridge between the physical body and subtler aspects of being.
Mantra
Through repetition of sacred sounds and focused attention, we work with one of the oldest tools for stabilising and directing the mind.
Mudra
Traditional gestures and energetic seals are incorporated into specific practices to support concentration and the direction of attention and prana.
Meditation
Meditation is at the heart of the retreat as the technology of inner Alchemy.
We explore different approaches to concentration, breath awareness, mantra and energetic meditation — practising individually, with partners and as a group.
As the preparatory work develops, the practice moves toward deeper Kundalini-oriented meditation and an exploration of the relationship between individual and collective practice.
Bhuta Shuddhi
Exploring and Purifying the Elements
A central practice during the retreat is Bhuta Shuddhi, a traditional yogic practice concerned with the purification and refinement of the five elements.
Earth · Muladhara Chakra · Root · Smell
Water · Svadhisthana Chakra · Sacral · Taste
Fire · Manipura Chakra · Solar Plexus · Sight
Air · Anahata Chakra · Heart · Touch
Space · Vishuddha Chakra · Throat · Hearing
These are not simply philosophical concepts. Through the practice, we explore them as qualities of our physical, energetic and perceptual experience.
Working with attention, breath, mantra, visualisation and meditation, we gradually refine our relationship with these fundamental aspects of experience.
Bhuta Shuddhi forms part of the preparatory foundation for the deeper practices that follow.
Working With Prana
Pranayama is more than breathing exercises.
Within the yogic tradition, prana is the vital force underlying life and movement, and pranayama provides methods for consciously working with it.
During the retreat, we explore different techniques and observe how changes in breathing influence concentration, sensory perception, mental activity and our internal state.
As the practice deepens, the breath can become increasingly subtle.
This transition — from working with the physical breath toward becoming aware of subtler aspects of prana — is an important part of the retreat.
Meditation — Alone and Together
Meditation is at the heart of our practice.
It doesn't mean simply sitting quietly and trying not to think.
We explore different forms of concentration, mantra, breath awareness and energetic meditation.
Some practices are done individually.
Some are practised with a partner.
Others are experienced together as a group.
The group practices become particularly important as we move deeper into Kundalini-oriented meditation, exploring how individual practice changes when it becomes a shared experience.
Four Days Together
There will be mornings when we practise while the rest of the island is still waking up.
After breakfast, we continue with workshops and practical explorations — working with breath, nervous-system awareness, yogic philosophy and partner exercises.
The afternoons leave room for a different rhythm.
You can swim, read in the sun, walk through the mountains, rest or simply sit and talk with the other participants.
We also take time to explore the landscape together through nature walks and other outdoor activities.
In the evening, we return to practice before sharing dinner and gathering again for the final part of the day.
The evenings include fire ceremony and group meditation, as well as live music and sharing.
The retreat has a rhythm of its own:
practice and rest.
silence and conversation.
going inward and sharing with others.
There is enough structure to take you somewhere, and enough freedom to let the experience unfold naturally.
The fourth day also gives us space to integrate the practices, spend more time together and enjoy the landscape without having to rush toward the end of the retreat.
Who Is This Retreat For?
You don't need to be an experienced yogi.
The retreat welcomes people from different backgrounds and levels of experience, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners.
You might come because you:
feel stressed, overwhelmed or tired of your everyday routine
want to take a few days to reset and recharge
are curious about meditation, pranayama or mantra
want to develop a stronger personal practice
are interested in exploring yoga beyond asana
want to reconnect with your body and breath
are curious about Kundalini and the deeper dimensions of yogic practice
are looking for new perspectives on yourself and your life
are a yoga teacher who wants to explore practices beyond the standard Western asana curriculum and discover new tools to deepen your own practice and teaching
simply want to spend a few days somewhere warm, beautiful and meaningful during the European winter
You don't need to arrive with a particular spiritual belief or philosophy.
Curiosity is enough.
Small Groups. Real Connection.
The retreats are intentionally limited to 12 participants.
This allows the experience to remain personal and gives enough space for individual attention, questions and genuine connection within the group.
The retreats are held in English and welcome an international group of participants.
There is no expectation that you need to perform, achieve or become anything during these days.
Come as you are.
Practise together.
Explore together.
And give yourself the opportunity to experience something outside of your usual routine.
Winter Sun, Mountains & Nature
The retreats take place on the Canary Islands during the European winter.
We choose locations surrounded by nature, with space to practise outdoors, relax by the pool and explore the landscape around us.
Mountains, ocean, sunshine and the warmth of the Canary Islands become part of the experience — not as a distraction from the practice, but as a beautiful environment in which to step away from everyday life.

About Your Teacher
Falk
My own path into yoga began through a period of questioning how I wanted to live and what it means to genuinely feel at home within myself.
Over the years, I have lived in a yoga ashram, travelled extensively through India and studied different approaches to yoga, pranayama, meditation, inner alchemy and bodywork.
My work today is particularly influenced by Himalayan Kriya Yoga and the south Indian Siddha Tradition, combined with a grounded understanding of the relationship between body, breath, nervous system and awareness in traditional yogic frameworks.
I don't approach yoga as a system of beliefs or as a collection of promises.
For me, the value of a practice lies in its application and practicality in daily life, what it allows us to experience and how we can use these experiences for authentic transformation, healing and integration.
What Might You Take Home?
The purpose of the retreat isn't to promise a particular spiritual experience.
You may discover a pranayama practice that changes the way you relate to your breath.
You may find a new approach to meditation.
You may experience mantra or mudra differently after practising them with others.
You may become more aware of your own energy and internal state.
You may discover something about yourself that you hadn't expected.
Or you may simply return home feeling rested, inspired and happy that you gave yourself these few days.
There is no particular experience you need to have.
Come with curiosity.
Practise sincerely.
See what happens.

If the retreat speaks to you, I'd love to hear from you.
Whether you already know that you'd like to join, you're still considering the idea, or you simply have a few questions — feel free to get in touch.
The retreats are intentionally small, so before confirming a place, I like to have a short personal conversation with each participant.
Send me a message including the month of retreat and the exact number of days.
